The SIR Institute for Pharmacy Practice and Policy, in collaboration with the Department of Essential Medicines and Pharmaceutical Policies of the World Health Organization, the Access to Medicine Foundation and Utrecht University, offers a NEW 2 ½ day interactive seminar.
The Seminar will offer participants a clear perspective on current developments in the access to medicine field. Seminar participants will gain hands-on experience with translating company activities into meaningful measures and will discuss how companies can improve their access to medicine performance. In addition the seminar will enable investors to identify indicators of best practices and opportunities for moving forward. The Access to Medicine Index will be used as a vehicle for learning in the seminar.
Contents of the seminar
Through lectures, casework and discussions the following topics will be addressed:
General introduction to access to medicine policies and practices;
The principles of indices to rate and rank performance;
Casework on the methods for the assessment of a pharmaceutical company: translating data to comparable measures;
Changing practice and barriers to change (cases from within and outside of the pharmaceutical sector).
The seminar is aimed at participants from pharmaceutical companies (e.g., CSR departments, R&D divisions and emerging markets units), investors, and public health professionals. We expect to have about 25 participants for this high-level, intensive seminar.
Scholarships
For this seminar, a small number of scholarships are available for participants from resource-limited settings. The scholarship includes either a reduction or a waiver of the seminar fee, accommodation and a small daily allowance for food and local travel.
